Ebola Clinical Trial in DR Congo

The outbreak of Ebola Virus in 2014 was one of the worst public health crises aside from Swine Flu (H1N1). Since the 2014 outbreak, the virus still continues to infect people throughout Africa. Doctors Without Borders (MSF), an international humanitarian medical non-governmental organization, partnered with the Democratic Republic of Congo Ministry of Health to enroll patients with Ebola into a randomized control trial. The goal of this trial is to test 4 different Ebola treatments.

MSF first began to offer Ebola treatments after an epidemic in North-Kivu in August 2018, however these drugs were being regulated under World Health Organization Protocol.

A clinical trial is significant because scientific data will be produced from it, allowing for a consensus on the best treatment for Ebola.
